Michael is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT) providing psychological treatment for depression and anxiety disorders. During office hours he works for the NHS and on weekends and evenings works in private practice. (Check your CBT therapist is registered http://www.cbtregisteruk.com/Default.aspx).
In 1996 he undertook a Degree in Psychology (accredited by the British Psychological Society, BPS). With his interest shared in physical disabilities he then completed a Postgraduate Degree and gained professional status as an Occupational Therapist (HCPC). He has worked in a range of specialities to include: Acute mental health, medicine for the elderly, stroke units, orthopaedics, and physical rehabilitation. In 2008 he began to specialise in mental health and completed a further post graduate degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Michael's experience of working for both general medical and mental health services has placed jim in a strong position to understand the complex needs of people who experience both psychological and physical difficulties.
In his day to day practice he uses a collaborative approach to therapy enabling a person to be their own best therapist. Michael has worked for ten years in the NHS and has been fortunate enough to frequently enable people make positive adjustments in their life's. Michael find CBT incredibly useful in his own life for managing avoidance, and dealing with uncertainty
