Standards and Ethics

Michael Elkabbas is a member of the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Behavioural Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). The standards of conduct, performance and ethics he must keep to are as follows:

 

1. He must act in the best interests of service users

2. He must maintain high standards of assessment and practice

3. He must respect the confidentiality of service users

4. He must keep high standards of personal conduct

5. He must provide (to HPC, BABCP and any other relevant regulators and/or professional bodies) any important information about his conduct and competence

6. He must keep his professional knowledge and skills up to date

7. He must act within the limits of my knowledge, skills and experience and, if necessary, refer the matter to another practitioner

8. He must communicate properly and effectively with service users and other practitioners

9. He must effectively supervise tasks that he has asked other people to carry out

10. He must get informed consent to give treatment (except in an emergency)

11. He must keep accurate records

12. He must deal fairly and safely with the risks of infection

13. He must limit his work or stop practising if his performance or judgement is affected by his health

14. He must behave with honesty and integrity and make sure that his behaviour does not damage the public’s confidence in him or his profession

15. He must make sure that any advertising he does is accurate
